Centerra Partners with Heart Safe Community Initiative to Offer CPR Training

LOVELAND, COLO. — May 1, 2017 — Centerra is pleased to announce a partnership with The Heart Safe Community Initiative to provide FREE monthly CPR training to the community at two Centerra locations. From May through September, Centerra and Heart Safe will host complimentary “Friends and Family” (non-certification) lunchtime and evening trainings.

Lunchtime trainings will be on the first Tuesday of every month from 12-1 PM at the UNC Loveland Center, 2915 Rocky Mountain Ave., Suite 110. The evening trainings will be on the first Wednesday of each month from 5:30-6:30 PM in the cafeteria at High Plains School, 4255 Buffalo Mountain Drive. Each year more than 400,000 people in the United States go into sudden cardiac arrest, a condition where their heart suddenly stops beating. Without intervention, death occurs within minutes. Loveland’s Heart Safe Community initiative is a collaborative effort between Thompson Valley EMS, McKee Medical Center Foundation, McKee Medical Center, the CardioVascular Institute of Northern Colorado, Loveland Police, Loveland Fire and Rescue Authority, Loveland Emergency Communications, Thompson School District and Loveland residents Julie Kruit and Tom Lucero to improve health outcomes by raising awareness of sudden cardiac arrest, providing widespread CPR training to area residents, and facilitating placement of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) throughout the Loveland and Berthoud communities. AEDs work by shocking a heart back into a normal electrical rhythm. Statistics show that likelihood of survival increases dramatically when CPR and an AED are administered within minutes of sudden cardiac arrest.
