This spring the Centerra master-planned community in Loveland has been focusing on sustainability and healthy living, engaging with Northern Colorado residents for events supporting environmental stewardship and giving back.

Centerra recently hosted a Spring Clean Up event, in partnership with High Plains Environmental Center (HPEC) and The Lakes, inviting volunteers to clean open space areas along the trail system, canal and lakes. These natural areas and trail system are owned and managed by local nonprofit HPEC, and are open for use to the public. Volunteers of all ages supported the effort, including Centerra and Loveland residents, HPEC staff and McWhinney associates. The group covered HPEC’s 76-acre site and collected a full truckload of bags with debris from the open space and waterways around Equalizer Lake and Houts Reservoir.

HPEC, located within Centerra, is also currently hosting its annual Native Plant Sale to kick off the spring season. The sale will be open online now through September 6 and consists of a wide variety of native plants that help conserve water and support native wildlife, especially pollinators. All 2021 stock comes in 2 3/8″ x 5″ deep-root pots available for pick-up. Each plant is priced between $5 – $6, and new varieties will be added throughout the season with more than 100 species anticipated. Sales from the Native Plant Sale benefit the nonprofit organization and its effort to conserve and restore Colorado’s unique native biodiversity through the use of native plants in landscaping and open space.

“We appreciate all who have come together in support of conservation within our community,” said David Crowder, vice president of McWhinney and general manager of Centerra. “Sustainability is a core value at Centerra. These efforts are a step toward a much larger and ongoing initiative, helping to spark a passion and focus on healthy living within our community.”

Centerra also recently partnered with the UCHealth Garth Englund Blood Center to host three community blood drives at its Railway Flats, HPEC and The Promenade Shops locations. The Front Range has seen a drop in blood donations due to the recent snowstorms. The blood drives, adhering to COVID-19 safety and social distancing protocols, collected a generous amount of units that equated to saving 51 lives. On June 1st and July 2nd, McWhinney will continue the blood drive efforts with UCHealth by hosting two additional community drives at the Trails at Timberline and Cycle Apartments located in Fort Collins.

During the blood drives, Centerra partnered to support a local Girl Scout troop in Loveland, after a challenging season of cookie sales due to the impacts of COVID-19. Centerra purchased cookies to support the troop and gifted a box to each blood donor. In addition, each blood donor (21 and older) received a complimentary beer pint coupon from local Loveland breweries, Grimm Brothers and Loveland Aleworks.

The Centerra community also sponsored the annual Loveland Classic 5k/10k Race, which raised funds for the Thompson Education Foundation. Centerra hosted a table handing out Boxed Water to the participants. The Boxed Water, donated by McWhinney’s multifamily division, allowed for convenient and safe single-use consumption and the cartons are made with 100% recyclable materials.

“Giving back and supporting impactful community engagements are key elements that make Centerra unique and connected to the broader Northern Colorado community,” said Celeste Smith, senior marketing director for McWhinney. “We continually look for opportunities to support those in need while engaging local residents in fun and safe ways. These community impact events have allowed us to continue bolstering the community’s spirit, which has always been part of our legacy and continues to be a heightened priority for us.”

Today, McWhinney announced the introduction of Lennar, Dream Finders Homes and Richmond American Homes as the first collection of homebuilders joining Kinston, the developer’s newest residential village located on the east side of the award-winning, 3,000-acre master-planned Centerra community in Loveland, Colo. The three builders recently closed on 237 homesites representing five different home types in the first phase of residential offerings for the 625-acre development. At buildout, Kinston plans to deliver a total of approximately 2,800 home sites including 15 distinct product segments to meet homebuyers’ vast preferences and the growing demand for homes in the northern Colorado market.

“Centerra is already well-established as a best-in-class master-planned community, home to thousands of residents, outdoor recreation and amenities, parks, millions of square feet of regional shopping, employment opportunities and a regional hospital. Kinston will further enhance our community in many ways, including the quality that we’ve built into the larger vision for Centerra and in terms of community engagement,” said David Crowder, vice president of community development for McWhinney and general manager of Centerra. “Our goal is to provide options that meet our new residents where they are at in their various stages in life within a dynamic and sustainable community where residents can live, work and play for generations to come.”

According to extensive consumer trend analysis conducted by Meyers Research, more than 70% of consumers prefer a suburban neighborhood near a walkable urban village that elicits a ‘small town’ feel. In response to these preferences, Kinston plans to offer a community focused on wellness and connectivity for a new era of homebuyers seeking a wide array of attainable residential options that range from townhomes and condominiums to single-family homes and paired homes.

The three initial Kinston homebuilders plan to deliver modern farmhouse and prairie-style homes as well as craftsman and mid-century modern designs. New model homes are expected to open to the public in late winter 2021, with pricing becoming available at that time.

McWhinney broke ground on Kinston in December 2020. Prospective amenities at Kinston are designed to foster a tight-knit community and quality time among neighbors, friends, families and visitors. Kinston Commons will be a centralized amenity campus in the heart of the community and will include the Kinston Hub, a welcome center and residential community center featuring a café operated by a local beer and coffee purveyor. The Kinston Hub is planned to open at the end of 2021.

As the master plan for Kinston advances throughout the next 10 years, additional home types are planned to be added as well as new amenities:

Kinston is situated immediately east of I-25 and north of The Promenade Shops at Centerra, near Kendall Parkway and Centerra Parkway. The village will help to round out the master-planned community’s existing 2,500 homes and diverse residential offerings, its miles of trails and 300 acres of open space, the UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies, The Promenade Shops and The Marketplace at Centerra shopping and dining destinations, office parks, transportation, sculpture park, the community’s pre-K to 8th grade STEAM school, the High Plains Environmental Center with its gardens, orchards and unique event programs, and more. The new residential village is planned to accommodate an estimated 8,000 residents by the time of completion within the next 10-15 years.

Avenida Partners has announced plans to develop a resort-inspired apartment community for active adults age 55 and older, situated within the Centerra master-planned community. Avenida Loveland will offer 154 rental senior apartment homes consisting of one- and two-bedroom floorplans, providing a new residential option that is tailor-made for adults residing in, or relocating to, Loveland who are interested in having more time for fun in a maintenance-free and program-enriched lifestyle.

The introduction of this active adult community in Centerra complements the wide-range of housing offerings across the master-planned community developed by McWhinney, with its current residential communities comprised of single-family homes, townhomes, condos, apartments, and affordable communities. With expansive trail systems and convenient access to the mountains, parks, and gardens, Centerra caters to residents who desire an active lifestyle with an appreciation for the outdoors. Centrally located in the fast-growing northern Colorado region, Avenida Loveland will greatly appeal to the senior who seeks a healthy and engaged lifestyle and desires to be within close proximity to shopping, dining, and advanced medical professional services.

Avenida Loveland will be located along the Loveland and Greeley Canal trail at the corner of Highway 34 and Boyd Lake Avenue, just east of Boyd Lake and north of First National Bank within High Plains Village. The 180,000-square-foot building will be constructed on 6.5 acres, with construction for the project beginning in April 2021 and a grand opening slated for fall 2022. Firms involved in the project include Brinkman Construction and Element Architects. The three-story Avenida Loveland property will feature a modern farmhouse architectural design and offer modern apartments with contemporary finishes, including designer flooring, quartz countertops, spacious bedrooms, walk-in closets, step-in showers, and private patios and balconies. The community will offer convenient floorplans ranging from 650 square feet to 1,300 square feet, with a mix of one- and two-bedroom, two-bath apartment homes. An array of carports, garages, and storage will also be offered to residents onsite.

“We’re excited to bring this dynamic new lifestyle to Loveland. Avenida Loveland provides an opportunity for existing residents to ‘rightsize’ in the community where they raised their families, and it gives someone who has always wanted to live in Loveland—and specifically Centerra—an opportunity to do so,” said Matthew May, Project Manager at Avenida Partners. “Our residents will have the option to explore nearby restaurants and retail, as well as walk or bike the adjacent miles of trails that directly connect our community to Boyd Lake and the rest of Loveland. We’re honored to have the opportunity to add to the existing fabric of Centerra and provide a much needed and unmatched residential option for the senior we hope to call a resident.”

Future residents will benefit from 10,000 square feet of best-in-class interior amenities and over 2 acres of landscaped exterior amenities. Interior amenities will include an upstairs lounge and observation terrace with stunning views of the Front Range, a private dining room, a bistro bar, a theater, a fitness center and yoga studio with expansive views, and a creative arts studio. The exterior amenities will include a pool with an aerobic zone and separate spa, a pickle ball court, a creek-side picnic area, outdoor entertainment areas with grilling and dining spaces, an enclosed dog run, an observation terrace, and much more. Residents at Avenida Loveland will also enjoy, at no charge, a daily continental breakfast and Avenida’s proprietary 5 to ThriveTM resident enrichment program, which promotes active aging and holistic wellness with a robust calendar of activities and events—all included in the monthly rent.

“At Centerra, we seek to craft a community lifestyle experience that delivers the full spectrum of residential options fulfilling community members’ unique and varied needs,” said David Crowder, Vice President of Community Development for McWhinney and General Manager of Centerra. “The Avenida Loveland project expands our residential offerings in Centerra and is focused on housing options designed specifically for residents as they plan toward retirement, locate near family, or age in place. The recent collaboration with The Capstone at Centerra senior living community adjacent to this property will help meet the demand for assisted living and memory care services in the area, with Avenida Loveland filling the remaining niche by supporting residents 55 and older looking for a contemporary home supporting active, independent lifestyles.”

Centerra is kicking off the new year and celebrating those on the medical frontlines while spreading valentine’s cheer as Loveland’s Chamber of Commerce celebrates its 75th Valentine Anniversary in 2021.

To help continue lifting the community’s spirits in the new year and express support for local healthcare heroes, Centerra and its partners announced they will keep their holiday lights turned on through the end of the month at multiple locations, including Chapungu Sculpture Park in the Centerra Metro District, and the Centerra Marketplace and Promenade Shops. Centerra is joining the Keep Your Lights Up for Healthcare Heroes national and local initiative to support and recognize the committed and hardworking medical professionals.

“Businesses within Centerra employ more than 8,000 people and our community is beyond grateful for the unwavering commitment brought forth by local medical professionals that treat thousands of patients each month at Centerra,” stated David Crowder, vice president of McWhinney and general manager of Centerra. “Thanks to their services, our vibrant community has remained resilient during these challenging times and we feel fortunate to be open for business.”

Centerra is thrilled to expand its community partnership with local organizations such as the Loveland Chamber of Commerce, City of Loveland, Centerra Metro District, Visit Loveland and My Big Day Events to provide safe, memorable and socially distanced ways to continue expressing love and kindness within the community coming off the heels of the holidays.

“We are committed to providing our community residents, visitors and guests with memorable family-friendly activities that are safe, socially-distanced and celebrate our community,” commented Celeste Smith, senior marketing director for McWhinney. “We welcome everyone to come explore Centerra and Loveland for the day or weekend and experience all the wonderful and unique amenities you can’t find elsewhere.”

On February 1, Chapungu Sculpture Park will transform its Winter Wonderlights holiday hues to thousands of colorful red and pink strings of lights and sweetheart-themed décor backed by romantic music, nightly from 5-9 p.m. This is free and open to the public through February 14. Visitors who attended in December are encouraged to return to immerse themselves in an outdoor sweetheart setting providing more photo opportunities within the park’s natural backdrop.

Loveland is home to two of the largest love lock sculptures in the U.S., with one located in Centerra, right off Highway 34 at the Loveland Visitor’s Center. Love Locks can be purchased, and individuals can lock their love in the nation’s Sweetheart City on a beautiful piece of art. The 2021 official Loveland Valentine’s Card and Sweetheart Coffee Blend can also be purchased at the Loveland Visitors Center located at 5400 Stone Creek Circle.

Couples are invited to participate in the annual Loveland Valentine’s Day Group Wedding taking place this year at the beautiful outdoor Chapungu Sculpture Park at Centerra on Sunday, February 14th at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Participation will be capped to ensure the event remains safe and socially distanced. Tickets are required and available online for interested couples looking to tie the knot or renew their vows in a special ceremony with plenty of romantic touches. Couples traveling in for the ceremony looking to extend their stay can secure hotel accommodations at Centerra’s Courtyard by Marriott, located adjacent to Chapungu.

In addition to the sweetheart-themed activities taking place in Loveland, the public is invited to experience safe and fun valentine festivities in Centerra from January through February, including:

Today, McWhinney announced the groundbreaking of Kinston, a new residential village in the buildout of the award-winning 3,000-acre master-planned Centerra community in Loveland, Colo. Spanning 630 acres, Kinston will offer 2,800 home sites and accommodate nearly 8,000 residents by the time of completion within the next 10-15 years. Located at the epicenter of northern Colorado, Kinston will add to the fabric of Centerra with its planned parks, amenities, outdoor recreation, schools, and the use of trails and nature to link the community together.

“Breaking ground on Kinston marks a pivotal milestone in the expansion of our Centerra community, as we build upon our legacy of creating great places and providing fabled experiences,” said Chad McWhinney, CEO and co-founder of McWhinney. “Since the introduction of Centerra nearly two decades ago, McWhinney’s vision continues to evolve as we aim to attract a diverse population, build a stronger community and elicit a sense of wonder from residents and guests.”

Embodying the founding concept behind the Kinston name to blend a town with the spirit of kinship and connection, Kinston’s multifaceted amenity campus will serve as a focal point for the residential community. The Hub Community Center will be one-part welcome center and one-part joint café/brewery featuring an open air, expansive deck with views of the Rocky Mountains. With fitness and wellness rooms, large event spaces on an active lawn, outdoor fire pits, a pool and patios oriented for southwest mountain views and iconic architectural features, Kinston’s amenities are designed to foster quality time among neighbors, friends, families and visitors.

Kinston plans to welcome several new homebuilders, with new home sales slated to begin in fall 2021. Kinston will offer the widest array of product segmentation plans among northern Colorado’s master-planned communities, for a broad diversity of homebuyers. Kinston is planned to offer up to 15 different home designs, including single-family detached homes, townhomes and paired homes.

“Kinston will become northern Colorado’s newest tight-knit gathering place where community members can enjoy a new way of living. Whether you want to bike to The Promenade Shops for dinner, go hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, take a quick Bustang ride to a Rockies game at Coors Field, or hang out at the local café with neighbors, Kinston offers a unique residential lifestyle designed for work, leisure, convenience and community,” said David Crowder, vice president of community development for McWhinney and general manager of Centerra. “People are flocking to this region from across the U.S., and these homebuyers want the sense of town and community connectedness that has been missing in so many suburbs. We look forward to Kinston not only fulfilling, but exceeding these lifestyle dreams and interests for those who crave a balanced life well lived in northern Colorado.”

The northern Colorado region is primed for a vigorous economy, strong housing market and a lifestyle that will draw people from all over the country in the coming years. WalletHub’s “2020’s Fastest-Growing Cities in America” study ranks Loveland, Fort Collins and Greeley as three of the top 100 growing cities across the nation.

In light of the impacts of COVID-19 on everyday work and home life, people are considering relocating from city centers and urban areas to areas such as northern Colorado for larger homes, open space and a familiar, local and outdoors-centric lifestyle. These trends point toward a heightened interest in the region and promising potential for long-term economic growth outside of metro and city centers, further validating the need for a new village inspiring healthy, active lifestyles and connectivity among community members.

“Kinston at Centerra combines the classic opportunity for people to live, work, and play in the same community, while adhering beautifully to the homebuyer’s increasing focus on a new home in a suburban setting, driven by COVID-19 fears and the need for one’s own space,” said Tim Sullivan, senior managing principal at Meyers Research. “Our national housing research has confirmed this trend and Kinston is a perfect response: the right mix of land uses and home types at the right time.”

McWhinney, master developer of Centerra, is pleased to announce the three latest tenants slated to join the Centerra Industrial campus, including Geary Pacific Supply, NORCO Volleyball Club, and a major home improvement retailer. McWhinney welcomes NORCO to Building V, completed in July, and Geary Pacific and the home improvement company to Building VI, which will deliver in December 2020.

Keeping pace with the stable demand for industrial space in northern Colorado, McWhinney will break ground on Building VII in Q1 2021, with plans to further expand its industrial footprint in the 3,000-acre master-planned community with a new industrial district at Crossroads Boulevard and Rocky Mountain Parkway set to launch shortly thereafter.

As the leading hub for this asset class in northern Colorado, Centerra continues to grow its offerings to meet the needs of local and nationwide business operations. McWhinney plans for a minimum of 13 state-of-the-art industrial buildings between its current Centerra Industrial campus and the new industrial district, located directly west of the Centerra Motorplex. With its extensive land holdings, low land basis and “shovel-ready” sites, Centerra is primed to support a variety of future industrial needs in northern Colorado, including distribution hubs for online sales, logistic operations, last-mile delivery facilities and warehouse space with outdoor storage, among other anticipated demands.

“Despite the impacts of COVID-19 on the economy at large, demand for industrial space in northern Colorado remains relatively steady,” said Clyde Wood, vice president of commercial development for McWhinney. “Our intention is to capitalize on this demand by always having product available. McWhinney’s industrial track record and historical land basis allow us to consistently deliver best-in-class industrial space at competitive rates. We’re confident about our positioning in the market and look forward to accelerating both our speculative and build-to-suit industrial programs.”

Nonprofit sports and recreation organization NORCO Volleyball Club is anticipated to move into its new 60,000-square-foot facility in Building V in early 2021. NORCO Volleyball Club is purchasing a condominium interest in the Class A, 123,000-square-foot building, which features 24-foot clear heights, dock-high loading, ESFR sprinklers and flexible space configurations.

Located at 4515-4525 Viking Way, Building VI is currently under construction with projected completion by December 2020. The 123,000-square-foot building will include similar features to Building V. Upon completion, HVAC equipment supplier Geary Pacific Supply will occupy 25,757 square feet and begin operations by December 2020. The larger tenant, a national Fortune 100 home improvement retailer, will occupy 72,396 square feet in the building as a distribution facility for online sales and is anticipated to begin operations in March 2021.

During the first quarter of 2021, McWhinney plans to break ground on Building VII, the final building of the Centerra Industrial campus, with delivery slated for the fall. Building VII will include 123,000 square feet of space and features similar to the campus’ other buildings.

Situated off Kendall Parkway just south of the Northern Colorado Regional Airport, the Centerra Industrial campus is located with immediate access to I-25 and only 45 miles from both Interstate 80 and Interstate 70. The industrial campus also benefits from close proximity to all the amenities of Centerra, including retail, dining, entertainment and recreation trails.

Brokers Mike Eyer of CBRE and Kyle Lundy of C3 Real Estate Solutions manage lease transactions for the Centerra Industrial campus on behalf of McWhinney. Mike Eyer and Tyler Rowland of CBRE also represented the home improvement retailer on the tenant side.

Consistent with the goal of expanding its industrial footprint, McWhinney’s next industrial campus adjacent to the Motorplex at Centerra will include seven new buildings ranging in size from 43,000 square feet up to 150,000 square feet on both a speculative and build-to-suit basis.

“We are especially excited about the launch of our next industrial district, which is already in the design development phase. This new campus will offer a broader range of building types and sizes to ensure we can accommodate any significant industrial or flex user in the region.” added Wood.

The industrial district will support a variety of uses including small to mid-size light industrial and flex spaces, large e-commerce distribution centers, and warehouse space with outdoor storage. The planned district will offer immediate access to I-25 via Crossroads Boulevard, and occupants of these future buildings will benefit from a host of campus amenities, including landscaped outdoor plazas, picnic space and trail access.

LOVELAND, Colo. – Hunt Midwest is under contract with McWhinney, master developer of Centerra in Loveland, to purchase a 4.7-acre site planned for a two-story, 78,000-square-foot assisted living and memory care community. The Capstone at Centerra will be located on the north west corner of McWhinney Boulevard and US 34. The community plans to offer 56 assisted living apartment homes and 32 memory care suites, with accommodations for as many as 114 residents in the northern Colorado region. Construction is slated to begin in early 2021 with a grand opening planned for spring 2022.

“Loveland and its neighboring cities have experienced rapid population growth in the last several years,” said Aaron Schmidt, vice president of development and construction at Hunt Midwest. “Generations of new families relocating to the area have created an urgent need for high-quality senior housing throughout the region. The Capstone at Centerra will meet the current and ongoing demand for exceptional assisted living and memory care services and allow seniors the ability to live comfortably and close to their families, friends, and loved ones without having to leave their community.”

The design for both the interior and exterior of The Capstone at Centerra will be inspired by surrounding architecture and northern Colorado’s natural scenery. Residents at The Capstone at Centerra will benefit from convenient access to the 3,000-acre Centerra master-planned community’s nearby amenities including recreation, art, shopping and dining, medical services, open spaces, trails and wildlife habitat. At the assisted living and memory care community, a variety of thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor amenities and gathering spaces are planned to include formal and informal living and dining rooms, a fitness center, a bistro lounge, a sunroom, a beauty salon, walking trails, a gazebo and a dog park.

“With its open spaces, fresh air, and easy access to the outdoors and iconic destinations such as Rocky Mountain National Park, northern Colorado has been a highly demanded area for those looking to retire. As our community’s residents age, it is important we identify industry-leading providers in this vital sector of the housing and care business,” said David Crowder, vice president of community development for McWhinney and general manager of Centerra. “As Hunt Midwest expands its national footprint, we are pleased the team has chosen Centerra for this new project. With a strong track record of quality development, we look forward to welcoming Hunt Midwest and wish its team success in bringing the much-needed facility and services to our community.”

Integral Senior Living (ISL) will provide management services for The Capstone at Centerra. Residents of the community will have full access to ISL’s nationally recognized programs such as Vibrant Life®, Generations Memory Care, and Elevate® dining and support from a team of compassionate, highly trained associates committed to providing personalized care.

“The Capstone at Centerra will serve to augment the unparalleled quality of life Loveland and northern Colorado has to offer,” said Collette Gray, CEO/COO for ISL. “We’re eager to become a part of this vibrant, growing community and bring ISL’s excellent level of care to future residents and their families.”

Hunt Midwest, in collaboration with ISL Ventures, a division of ISL, and Leading Light Development and Construction Consulting, has worked to identify sites in areas throughout the country where the demand for senior housing is unmet. The Kansas City-based developer currently has Capstone communities in Royal Palm Beach, Fla. as well as Gallatin and Mt. Juliet, Tenn.

Hunt Midwest has selected Pi Architects to lead the overall design of community and Olsson to perform land planning and civil engineering for the project.

LOVELAND, Colo. —  McWhinney, a master-planned developer and investment firm, has launched an official Water Conservation and Sustainability Initiative for its Centerra community in collaboration with environmental nonprofit High Plains Environmental Center (HPEC), to enhance water conservation and sustainable practices in northern Colorado. Over the course of the next year, Centerra, HPEC and local community stakeholders including the Centerra Metro District are leading five cornerstone projects that directly promote water conservation and environmental leadership in the region.

Through McWhinney’s partnership with HPEC, the Centerra master-planned community in Loveland has been designated as the first wildlife habitat community in the state of Colorado by the National Wildlife Federation, promoting connectivity in landscapes to support wildlife in northern Colorado’s growing urban corridor, with HPEC managing 483 acres of open space and stormwater ponds within Centerra as a wildlife habitat. Colorado typically receives 12-14 inches of precipitation per year, and Colorado residents add further pressure to the state’s low rainfall with the typical household needing 0.4-0.5 acre feet of water per year (approximately 150,000 gallons) to support the demands of the home and landscaping. With a growing population and changing climate, water conservation and strategic landscaping are of the utmost importance in the northern Colorado region.

With a history of environmental stewardship, Centerra and HPEC have established the Water Conservation and Sustainability Initiative to encourage social responsibility in the region and provide the industry a roadmap that can help inform like-minded developers seeking to establish or enhance sustainable operations. Each year, Centerra and HPEC will set a program outlining their highest priority areas of focus, encouraging stakeholders to participate in projects that will enhance the community’s commitment to sustainability.

In addition, users on Centerra’s campus are encouraged to utilize sustainable practices in building their projects or in remodeling their uses.

“Preserving nature and restoring habitats has always been part of Centerra’s mission, and water is our most precious resource,” said David Crowder, vice president of community development for McWhinney and general manager of Centerra. “Developers are encouraged to be motivated about these causes, as they impact us all. We want to provide leadership in this initiative together with HPEC to allow us to be even better stewards and developers and make the best decisions about what is best for our community today and in the future.”

Centerra and HPEC’s Water Conservation and Sustainability Initiative includes the following planned projects this year:

“With the financial and lifestyle costs associated with water for homebuyers and businesses in mind, we want to do all we can to keep these costs low, while also encouraging conservation and sustainable practices, particularly in the development industry,” said Kim Perry, vice president, community design and neighborhood development at McWhinney. “Loveland City Council’s unanimous vote to pass the water efficiency plan is a great step to advance conservation in the region. We look forward to furthering our initiatives to raise awareness around the importance of water and how we can preserve our native landscapes and maintenance practices in the most sustainable, cost-effective ways possible.”

In 2001, McWhinney and McStain Neighborhoods partnered to form HPEC, a nonprofit 501(c)3 — located within Centerra — as an independent resource to protect the habitat and restore nature in the community. As a botanic garden, the community provides an experience in horticulture. HPEC features the Medicine Wheel Garden, with plants utilized by Plains Indian Tribes, the Native Plants & Pollinator Demonstration Garden, the Wild Zone, a nature play area, a native plant nursery, an heirloom fruit orchard, and community garden plots. In 2009, Centerra received design awards from the American Society of Landscape Architects’ Colorado chapter based on its innovative guidelines that ensure a rich ecosystem of wetlands and wildlife and promote sustainability and conservation.

HPEC is a member of the American Public Garden Association, as well as a regional public garden working group formed by Denver Botanic Gardens. HPEC and Chapungu Sculpture Park, a 26-acre park that houses more than 80 stone sculptures created by Zimbabwean artists, as well as other intensively landscaped areas within Centerra, compromise a “Botanic Garden” focused on public education and horticultural excellence.

“In partnership with Centerra and the first coalition in Colorado to be certified as a Community Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation, HPEC is committed to sustainable landscape practices and water conservation,” said Jim Tolstrup, executive director of HPEC. “Nature provides the perfect balance to urban planning, and the projects outlined in this initiative will help align landscape management practices more closely with habitat goals, all the while helping preserve Colorado’s unique natural beauty and biodiversity.”

LOVELAND, Colo. — Centerra, a 3,000 acre master-planned community developed by master developer McWhinney, has announced a partnership with Barre Forte as its newest tenant at The Marketplace at Centerra, the 500,000-square-foot retail center located in Loveland. Centerra and Barre Forte are proud to celebrate the studio’s successful launch and expansion into northern Colorado.

Founded in 2012, the fitness company selected Centerra last winter when planning its entrance into the northern Colorado market with its eighth location in Colorado. Given the prime location, strong community base and business-focused fundamental characteristics within the master-planned community, Centerra has supported the studio’s successful launch during the COVID-19 climate by providing an open air environment within a park setting so instructors could offer members outdoor and online class options until their doors could officially open. The company’s existing studios are located in Colorado Springs, LoHi/LoDo, Southmoor Park/Cherry Hills, Summit County, Vail Valley, Washington Park and Westminster.

Centerra and Barre Forte invite community members and guests to celebrate the studio’s grand opening and enjoy free classes on Saturday, June 27th and Sunday, June 28th.

“We are excited to expand our retail and wellness offerings by providing a dynamic mix of community services at The Marketplace at Centerra, and we’re especially looking forward to Barre Forte establishing roots in northern Colorado with this new location,” said Rob Hoffmann, commercial property leasing agent for McWhinney. “Barre Forte promotes the active lifestyles of Coloradoans, which is more important than ever to offer community members an active and healthy activity during this time.”

Barre Forte NoCo is adhering to its studio safety protocols by following CDC, state and local health guidelines, federal OSHA standards and HIPAA requirements in relation to COVID-19. The studio will implement daily protocols such as social distancing through limited class sizes to allow for a minimum of six feet of distance between individuals, diligent cleaning, in addition to implementing ongoing disinfecting measures to ensure the health and safety of its members and instructors.

To provide the best experience for members at a time when the studio cannot operate at full capacity, Barre Forte offers members the opportunity to register for outdoor and virtual classes, in addition to its in-studio classes, in order to provide options based on comfort levels and schedules.

Certified barre instructors Molly Kainuma and Laura Morrell own and operate the new studio. Barre Forte has leased 1,001 square feet for its NoCo/Loveland location, situated at 1569 Fall River Drive, Suite 145. The studio is located in the center of The Marketplace at Centerra, positioned between Jimmy John’s and Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt.

Barre Forte’s modern, open studio will offer group workouts seven days a week, with limited capacity given COVID-19 guidelines. In a 60-minute class, Barre Forte’s workouts can burn between 400 and 600 calories, using a combination of fat-burning interval training, muscle-carving strength training and isometric holds that exhaust the muscles. Each section of the workout is followed by stretching to result in a stronger, leaner physique. The workout is low-impact and designed to benefit people of all fitness levels. The studio is currently offering participants the flexibility of memberships, class packages or drop-in fee options.

LOVELAND, Colo. — McWhinney, master developer of Centerra, and Landmark Homes are pleased to announce the purchase of 450 homesites in the Centerra master-planned community in Loveland. Landmark Homes plans to deliver townhomes and condominiums in The Lakes at Centerra neighborhood, further progressing the homebuilder’s residential offerings within Centerra.

The introduction of new product lines will meet the high demand from homebuyers seeking attainable, low-maintenance lifestyles amid the market’s rapidly rising home prices. Landmark Homes plans to break ground in spring 2020 to provide northern Colorado residents with a more diversified and affordable selection of products.

“Landmark has made a notable impact delivering thousands of attached homes in the northern Colorado market. We’ve always been a small hometown builder at heart and feel connected to the fast-evolving needs of the tight-knit community of Centerra,” said Jason Sherrill, CEO of Landmark Homes. “We’re excited to go back to our roots and introduce these product types to this market so we can deliver the highest-quality attached homes at economical pricing, opening the door to homeownership for an underserved segment of homebuyers with limited options in northern Colorado’s quickly growing market. Kicking off our 2020 production roadmap with continued investment at The Lakes at Centerra was an obvious decision, and a project we look forward to nurturing.”

Landmark Homes has built more than 200 residences in Centerra, including townhomes, condominiums and flat-style homes. Building upon its existing footprint in Centerra, Landmark Homes will be the exclusive homebuilder delivering attached homes in the northern section of The Lakes at Centerra. Sitting immediately west of Houts Reservoir, many of the condos and townhomes will feature lake views and all will have access to the nearby community’s extensive trail system.

With this land purchase, Landmark Homes will launch its first collection of Discovery Series homes, the homebuilder’s newest product type, which focuses on delivering low-maintenance homes at its most cost- effective pricing. Of the 160 Discovery Series homes the builder will deliver, 80 sites will debut stacked ranch-style condos and 80 will be two-story condominiums, priced from the high $200s. The Discovery Series condos will feature four floorplans ranging from approximately 1,250 to 1,500 square feet with two to three bedrooms and two to 2.5 baths.

Landmark Homes will also deliver 196 elevator-served condominiums from the $200s to $300s. The Flats collection will feature six floorplan options ranging from approximately 950 to 1,400 square feet, one to three bedrooms and one to two baths. The homebuilder will diversify its offerings with 94 townhomes priced from the mid-$300s to mid-$400s. The Towns collection will feature four floorplans ranging from approximately 2,000 to 2,900 square feet with two to three bedrooms and 2.5 to three baths. The range of options within the homebuilder’s three collections is designed to support northern Colorado’s highly limited inventory of new condos and townhomes at attainable pricing.

“Landmark’s purchase represents and supports attainably priced homes in a premier master-planned community, and we’re proud to foster this opportunity. We feel strongly that the development of attached homes is more important today than ever before given the fast pace of rising home prices in the market and the evolving lifestyle demands of homeowners,” said David Crowder, vice president of community development for McWhinney and general manager of Centerra. “This is also a significant milestone for Centerra, made possible through a long-term relationship with Landmark Homes and its continued dedication to growing our community in northern Colorado. Landmark Homes is a proven leader and respected local builder in this market. The company’s success is a direct result of its commitment to its customers’ needs and providing quality homes, and we are proud to continue working with the team.”

In addition to the immediately adjacent amenities, Landmark Homes’ future homeowners will have direct access to existing amenities within Centerra including its miles of trails, neighborhood Pre-K to 8th grade STEAM school, The Lake Club, High Plains Environmental Center, year-round community events and more. Centerra is also Colorado’s first Certified Community Wildlife Habitat, recognized for its sustainable and wildlife-friendly design.
