Top 7 Things to See on the Lakes at Centerra Trails

The Lakes at Centerra is a natural sanctuary nestled within state-of-the-art shopping, healthcare, restaurants, employers and more. Featuring miles of recreational trails, the master-planned community is just a step away from connecting with natural areas. Residents and families at The Lakes can turn their afternoon run or evening stroll into an interactive and educational scavenger hunt by trying to spot these seven things that can be viewed along the way.

The Scenery

  1. Lapping Watersβ€”You won’t be able to miss the two pristine bodies of water nestled alongside The Lakes at Centerra trails, Houts Reservoir and Equalizer Lake.
  2. Mountain Backdropβ€”The Rocky Mountains are notable for containing the highest peaks in central North America, reaching up to 14,440 feet above sea level. Loveland has also been given the name Colorado’s “Gateway to the Rockies” because of its breathtaking views and serving as an entry to renowned Rocky Mountain National Park.

The Wildlife

In addition to the unprecedented views, the trails at The Lakes at Centerra are also a popular place for wildlife observation. Grab the binoculars, step out your door and see if you can sight these five species that often populate The Lakes trails.

  1. Bald Eagles
  2. Pelicans
  3. Owls
  4. Great Blue Herons
  5. Grebes and other migratory birds

Additionally, you can join the High Plains Environment Center (HPEC) on the third Saturday of every month for a bird walk around the 2-mile trail at Equalizer Lake.
