EMC Wins Centerra’s Bike to Work Business Challenge

Published: July 2, 2008

LOVELAND, CO – July 2, 2008 – High Plains Environmental Center (HPEC) announced EMC Corporation as the 2008 corporate champion of Centerra’s Bike to Work Day Business Challenge. EMC had 40% of their employees bike to work on June 25, making it the Centerra business with the highest participation on Bike to Work Day.

Bike to Work Day participation doubled from 2007 at the Centerra bike stations and at most of the seven businesses that participated in the challenge. Combined bike riders from seven Centerra businesses rode over 552 miles one way – saving approximately 547 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Sixty bikers visited the two breakfast stations located at Centerra, enjoying treats from Mimi’s Café, Chick-fil-A, and Starbucks. TREK also provided bike maintenance service.

EMC receives the traveling Bike to Work Champion trophy for 2008 and a free pizza party courtesy of Nick-n-Willy’s Pizza. The information management and storage company earned the traveling trophy from last year’s champion, McWHINNEY.
