Jay Hardy Starts as McWHINNEY’s Vice President of Community Affairs

LOVELAND, CO – APRIL 18, 2007 – As a long-time community leader in Northern Colorado, McWHINNEY is pleased to announce Jay Hardy has started as its Vice President of Community Affairs. As the former Director of The Ranch/Budweiser Events Center, Hardy brings over fifteen years in a dynamic background of facility management, special event development and management, public/private partnerships, marketing, and community building.

Charged with representing McWHINNEY while maintaining constructive relationships with government officials along with community business leaders, Hardy will work closely with McWHINNEY’s Centerra team. As Vice President of Community Affairs, Hardy will also work closely with other McWHINNEY team members including Rocky Scott – President of Centerra, Jack Wolfe – President of Commercial and Mixed Use Development, Tom Martin – General Manager, Grand Station, and Wendy Ellis – Vice President of Marketing.

Additional major responsibilities include orchestrating programs and events at Centerra, which will be geared to build the community brand and enhance a sense of community.

Hardy comes to McWHINNEY after spending five years at The Ranch/Budweiser Events Center as Director. At The Ranch, Hardy managed all aspects of the largest public construction project to date. He supervised and managed over 1,100 events and meetings annually while securing a contract with Embassy Suites to a construct a $62 million public/private hotel/conference center project.

Career highlights beyond seeing The Ranch being built from the ground up include efforts to construct the Thomas M. McKee 4-H, Youth & Community Building, creating the Thunder in the Rockies motorcycle rally, bringing professional hockey and women’s basketball to Northern Colorado, and orchestrating The Ranch and the Budweiser Events Center as the largest renewable energy user in the City of Loveland.

Prior to his time at The Ranch, Hardy worked as Executive Director at the Fort Collins Downtown Development Authority and as the Executive Director of the Fort Collins Downtown Business Association. Hardy got his career start at Colorado State University as the CSU Athletics Marketing Coordinator and Event Manager.

Hardy earned his Bachelor Degree from Colorado State University in 1990 and his Master of Arts Degree in Athletic Administration from the University of Northern Colorado in 1992.
