LOVELAND, COLO. November 13, 2013 — Today, Co’s BMW, Centerra and Drive Electric Northern Colorado (DENC) joined to launch the newest electric vehicle (EV) to hit the market in Colorado, the innovative BMW i3. The introduction of the car marks an exciting partnership between DENC, Centerra, and BMW to install a network of EV charging stations that will make Centerra one of the most electrified, mixed use developments in Colorado, joining a rapidly growing charging network in the Northern Colorado region.

The BMW i3 will be the fifteenth plug-in electric vehicle model available to American drivers, and one of the first made almost entirely of carbon fiber, which improves the car’s range and efficiency. The BMW i3 will be available as either a fully electric vehicle or as an electric hybrid vehicle with a range extender, and will be available to Northern Coloradoans through Co’s BMW in 2014.

As part of DENC’s community effort to accelerate the adoption of EVs in Northern Colorado, Centerra, one of the largest master-planned communities in the region that focuses on sustainability and employs more than 7,000 employees, has committed to installing charging stations at Centerra where people live, work, and shop.

“This unprecedented partnership demonstrates how Northern Colorado businesses are uniting to help our community become a model for EV deployment. Working with businesses like Centerra and BMW, we can help encourage Northern Coloradoans to make a smart transportation choice—one that allows them to save money by skipping the gas pump and positively impact our environment by reducing our emissions and our dependence on oil,” said Ben Holland of Drive Electric Northern Colorado.

“Centerra is proud to become a flagship partner in Drive Electric Northern Colorado,” said Jay Hardy, vice president and general manager of Centerra. “This is one step of many to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in Loveland. McWHINNEY views this as an important sustainable initiative to maintain a quality master-planned community at Centerra. Providing our businesses, residents and visitors with the option to “plug and charge” as they work or shop at Centerra will serve as another important amenity available on campus.”

“The BMW i3 is like no other EV on the market, and partners like DENC and Centerra helped make it an easy choice to bring the i3 to Northern Colorado,” said Christina Dawkins, owner and CEO of Co’s BMW. “Together we can help our community be a leader in EV adoption.”
